Nicolas Magriel
A student, performer, and teacher of the North Indian sarajgi since 1970, Nicolas Magriel completed his Ph.D. on this musical style in 2001 at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, where, together with Lalita du Perron, he is now working on a three-and-one-half year AHRB-funded research project on the songs of khyal, the prevalent genre of Hindustani vocal music.
