Communication Then and Now

Abstract

This essay examines the preaching of Jesus in relation to research into communication in primarily oral cultures, and then turns to the consideration of the communication situation of postmodernism. Several parallels are drawn between the approach of Jesus and the demands of the postmodern hearer, which should be helpful to preachers in the twenty-first century.
